If you're already using one of the major #email clients but are considering changing to Vivaldi Mail, this page is for you.
Here you can read a bit more about the features included in our built-in email client, and see the differences between Vivaldi Mail and the top 6 email clients.
We want you to make an informed decision, so...see for yourself and choose what's best for you!
@Vivaldi I tried to like the Vivaldi build-in mail client, but for me it doesn't do good job with multiple mail accounts (unified inbox) And there is no column with the sender address.
@Vivaldi Do you support digitally signed emails using S/MIME?
@kidehen @Vivaldi no, encryption is not implemented.
They said upon the initial launch of the technical preview of the email client that they were looking into adding #PGP #encryption - not sure about S/MIME. The feature request for S/MIME is relatively new - vote it up and discuss it on the forum to add visibility https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/90674/add-s-mime-to-vivaldi-mail
here is the feature request for pgp with a couple more votes https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/53298/pgp-gpg-de-encryption-and-signing which also points to the launch blog statement. https://vivaldi.com/blog/vivaldi-mail-technical-preview/#:~:text=We%E2%80%99ve%20worked%20quite%20a%20bit%20on%20PGP%20and%20you%20can%20expect%20it%20in%20future%20releases
@Vivaldi Without folders, Vivaldi Mail is a non starter for me. A huge list of emails, and the bizarre received vs unread views, make no sense to me. I switch to unread, and it starts removing messages as it marked them as read. Way too confusing.
@knightlie The beauty of Vivaldi is that you're not forced to use the app in its default configuration. There are plenty of customization options that allow you to tailor it to the way you want to use it.
For example, you could rearrange the sections in the Mail Panel in Settings > Mail > Mail Panel Order and Visibility by moving your accounts with their folders to the top and unified views (Unread, Received, etc.) to the bottom or hide them altogether.
@Vivaldi I find the Vivaldi mail client rather disappointing. It's not easy to switch between different mailboxed and it show sent email together with incomming mail. Have a look a bluemail, that has a nice interface.
@uberprutser
Interesting. Could you describe what you find difficult or confusing about checking your mail from different accounts.
What you said about received and sent messages being displayed together makes me wonder whether you're clicking on "All Messages" and/or your email addresses in the Mail Panel. These views indeed display both incoming and outgoing mail, so I recommend selecting narrower views (Unread, Inbox, Drafts, etc.)
@Vivaldi Some of the confusion probably comes from the fact that I use multiple computers, and the mail setting are not synced between them. So it’s very likely that I did something incorrect, looking for some sort of unified mail configuration. But heaving said that, for me, Vivaldi mail isn’t the most intuitive mail reader I’ve ever used :(
@uberprutser Thank you for your feedback.
Syncing accounts and settings is something we want to implement, so hopefully one day the client will match your expectations more.
PS! You can show support for the feature request here: https://forum.vivaldi.net/topic/53420/sync-email-rss-calendar-configurations-and-seen-read-statuses.
