Every iOS update I check to see if this bug – which Apple said “will be fixed in a future iOS update” as they resolved my radar many months ago – is fixed. It never is. Doubly frustrating if they actually know the cause and have a fix, but won’t put it out because reasons.

Now that in iOS 18.4 you can finally set the Mail app to return to the inbox after archiving/deleting messages, I may finally give it a try after all these years.

So here's a question... an iPhone has a thing where you can "Erase All Content and Settings" which I assume does just that.

Let's say someone is concerned with the authorities taking their phone. How much would the erasing protect the person's data & information?

And let's say the person's phone is *not* taken by authorities, could the person just restore it later from a previous backup?
