Finally - smelly spring flowers!
You have no idea how hard it is to find decently smelly flowers on this side (when compared with Tesselaars near Melbourne). I’ve searched forever for erlicheer jonquils. Still looking for good smelly freesias rather than the giant non-scented type.
This daphne was the only one at the garden center, and again, the first seen since moving to DE in 2011. Hopefully it’ll be a bit more robust than the post-destroyed ones I tried to get from NL.
Wisteria, apple, pear, lemon and cherry blossoms are all out too - it smells good on the balcony.
Having new flowers on my balcony.
Thes are from a cutting I picked up at the park in Nice.

It looked to me like my lovage hadn't survived the winter so I went to Mason Street Farm to get a new one. When I got home with it I noticed that my existing lovage had finally decided to wake up.
Stepped out onto the balcony at 1:30am to pop tonight's dinner scraps into the composter, and between some admittedly casual thunder, the air is soft and quiet and has that rich alive smell off the lake that says definitively yes, it is time, first cool crops go out this weekend.
After many years of building buds and dropping them, the camellias are finally flowering.
The trick? A mild winter, pots packed up with straw, and staying outside on the east balcony the entire time.

The mint is back
A lot of strawberries
Some spontaneous Marjoram and Geranium probably from my neighbors balcony or birds
This planter is on my south-facing balcony and gets brutal summer sun, but…
hiding under other plants…
in the shade…
is a chubby little haworthia living its best life
It’s still a bit early in the season, but I had the time and energy so I went for it: I upsized all of my trees’ pots.
First the jaboticaba is the biggest, so it gets the new, huge pot I picked up yesterday. Then all of the smaller trees get hand-me-downs.
In Farsi, we call this Khar Zahre (poison of the donkey), I have no idea why. It's Oleander in English and it comes in different colors. We have them everywhere in south of France. Just like in the south of Iran where I was born.
Picked up a broken branch from the street last spring and put it into a pot.
It rooted and this year it's blooming. I really like it.
I want to do the same with the white and the red ones as well.
My donated #avocado tree is now over 2 years old.
Hopefully I will have a yard soon so I can grow it to be a full tree
