gmx is a good alternative as well. It's german. You can also get it in France
In the free version GMX and web.de are full of spam.
It was one of my first adresses I would rate it at cheap and poor and not qualitative fediverse style.

I couldn't put GMX in the list because the #FollowFriday is only for profiles that exist in Mastodon, but I've already shared toots citing them before.

@ueeu proton is no longer on Mastodon, probably for reasons other than the stated.
Nowadays we must exclude proton from safe states.
