The future of the #USA:

#AOC with the #BernieSanders assist

15,000 just showed up at a rally in Tempe Arizona, where this picture was taken

#MAGA: eat shit and die

#nonvoters: show the fuck up you entitled privileged fuckwits

#centrist spineless #Democrats: shut the fuck up and fall in line

centrist #GOP archeological artifacts: what even the fuck are you, follow the centrist dems and keep your fucking mouth shut

@benroyce I just hope these two don't fuck everything up. I don't trust either one of them.

@RegGuy

why don't you trust them

if in terms of "i don't trust any politician", ok

but in terms of "who is the most sincere on the stage of politicians in front of me" you have to admit, AOC and Bernie are the most trustworthy on those terms

centrist dems are impotent pisswater

centrist GOP are an extinct species

and MAGA is radioactive evil

so there's your choice

@benroyce It's all ego for them. They are both the left version of MAGA. No thank you to Socialism either.

But I'm old now and there is probably no saving this country before I die. I had such hope for where we were headed. Now I have nothing but dread. Those two don't inspire hope at all in me, just more dread of what could happen if they actually get power.

@RegGuy

i disagree. more social safety nets gets us to be norway, not venezuela

@benroyce Social safety nets, yes, Socialism, no. They both talk/ed about Socialism, not social safety nets.

Think Cuba, not Norway.

@benroyce Keep in mind, my family lost *EVERYTHING* to Socialism in Cuba. I'm not amused.

SouprMatt

@RegGuy @benroyce You didn’t lose everything to socialism. You lost it to authoritarianism.

Authoritarians can use socialism or oligarchy to make themselves the sole proprietors of wealth in a nation. USA is going the oligarchy route. Cuba and China went the socialist route. Russia started with one then switched to the other!

This is an important distinction IMO. Giving everybody in a country healthcare doesn’t turn it into a dictatorship.

@mls14 @RegGuy @benroyce as every other developed country in the world has discovered

@mls14 @RegGuy @benroyce Right now it seems to me a lot of Americans ARE loosing everything to capitalism.

Student debt, medical debt, homelessness, illiteracy...
How many people have lost everything, hell, have died because of capitalism in the US?

Arguing AOC and Sanders could turn our country into Cuba is preposterous.
You'd need an actual revolution for that and you won't get it in a country made of 50 different states.

At the very best our grandchildren might enjoy a Canadian-style USA.

@aSweetGentleman @mls14 @RegGuy @benroyce And what exactly was "lost" in Cuba anyway? There's zero debate about whether there was massive wealth inequality under Batista. Cuba's poverty since the revolution is due more to American sanctions than to the failures of socialism, and at least everyone there has healthcare.

@msbellows @aSweetGentleman @mls14 @RegGuy

and human rights?

the proper approach is to say both USA and Cuba suck

there's no need to champion Cuba merely because the USA sucks

@benroyce @aSweetGentleman @mls14 @RegGuy I'm not saying Cuba is great, by any means. But I suspect that for most Cubans it's nevertheless better post-Castro than pre-Castro (a VERY low bar).
