@jon So true and I appreciate Vivaldi for doing this!

@jon Remember that most of the over 8,000 cryptocurrencies in existence are scams, and of those that have real world use cases they are not as private, anonymous, secure or decentralized as their advocates and the popular press regard them as. Goldbacks are vastly superior to bitcoins as an alternative currency. If you still want to buy some bitcoin I would strongly suggest buying gold bars or goldbacks instead. goldback.com/where-to-buy-gold

@jon Vivaldi is still closed source last time I looked.
That Vivaldi won't create a crypto currency doesn't make that any less bad.

@thaodan @jon What are your concerns? What are you afraid of? Vivaldi is a great browser and the team behind it are good and friendly people. :tony_wee:

@HalleAndert @jon That it is closed source is my concern? Unless I can built the browser my self it's hard to trust. Further even if there's a source dump from some parts of the browser that doesn't change how open the browser is.

@thaodan @jon Okay, so you only use completely open source software. I assume that you always check the source code after every application update so that you can trust the software, right? Which browser do you use?

@HalleAndert @jon At least I'm trying to use completely free software. Point being that
are plenty of free browsers out there. Not just because I wouldn't don't trust binary built by someone else but also to be able to rebuild
the application whenever I need to.
I use Firefox.

@thaodan @jon Although Firefox is a free and open source browser, @mozilla is completely financially dependent on .

I also like using , but I am not a hardliner. There is too much good software that is not open source. @Vivaldi is by far the best in my opinion. I simply can no longer do without its advantages.

My tip to you is to simply take a look at Vivaldi and give the browser a chance. Maybe you will like the browser. :tony_wee:

@jon I appreciate this and that Vivaldi won’t have a built in crypto wallet that nobody asked for.

@jon crypto isnt inherently bad, but it's way too nascent/scammy (for now), so i appreciate keeping it at an arm's distance. at the very least, integrating any sort of crypto features would be a waste of dev resources 👍
