Ran across a video about Robert Chambers' story collection The King In Yellow, and the fictitious play that could drive you mad. The more I think of it, that might have been as much of a prophecy about the Internet as Infinite Jest.

@Woodchaz The game is a Lovecraftian RPG where you fight against insanity as you descend a dungeon that hides multi-generational secrets. One proeminent figure is a "yellow king" - can't say much more without spoiling it

Ah so. I only found out recently The King in Yellow was part of the Lovecraftian mythos. Haven't read enough Lovecraft
