@Woodchaz Yup! My t-shirt said "DREAD: Detroit Rockers Engaged in the Abolition of Disco". A local rock radio station was handing them out. But that same station had the Chic rip-off "Another One Bites the Dust" in heavy rotation so whatevs LOL 🤣

@7sleepersmusic
DJs trying to keep their jobs I imagine. That's what sparked the thing in Chicago. The DJ was pissed because his rock station switched formats to disco.

@Woodchaz As a callow youth, I was of the "disco sucks" faction. But Henry Rollins breaking down "Funky Town" caused me to reconsider.

@Enema_Cowboy
I think the word funky gets to the heart of it. When disco got too formulaic, it quit being funky. I like &TheGang in general, but their earlier funkier stuff had a longer shelf life for me.

What did have to say?

@Enema_Cowboy
I love that guy. He's so smart. Saw him do a spoken word show in '11. The fact that he never mentioned is how I knew it wasn't the revolution. He would've said something. 😃

@Woodchaz I love almost every kind of music. There was good disco, there was awful disco, and there was phenomenal disco.
Donna Summer

@Barbramon1
Oh yeah I loved Donna Summer and that song in particular. How about this one? in '76 before it was a thing:

@Woodchaz Recently watched "Love to Love You", a biography of Summer by her daughter. Definitely worth a watch. Lots of music! I had forgotten how many great hits she had. Was also unaware of how many songs she wrote. Massive talent.
