"Landscape in the Jura Mountains near Romanel," Felix Vallotton, 1900.

This is one of a series of landscapes Vallotton painted near his native Lausanne. In Nabi style, it's mostly an interplay of blocks of color, but it does give a strong feeling of a hazy summer evening, like what I'm experiencing right now.

A landscape in the style of the Nabis. The canvas is dominated by the mountains, which rise in a blue-gray shape against a yellowish sky, seeming to indicate dawn or dusk, and the mountains seem hazy and distant. Near the bottom, in the foreground, we can make out fields and trees, with areas of color representing rolling hills, farmland, and woodland. Nothing is particularly detailed; it's mostly an interplay of shapes and colors.
