One of my favourite pieces of RPG illustration, a Black Ssú warrior drawn by Craig Smith for "Swords & Glory Volume 1, The Source Book" published by Gamescience in 1983. It's hardly a lavishly illustrated volume, but the alien races are convincing and feel a long way from being a man in a rubber suit. The Ssú, one of the surviving races from before mankind colonised Tékumel, are understandably not well disposed towards humans.

Drawing of a vaguely insectoid alien warrior. It's skin, where visible, is loose and ragged. It wears an elaborate full helm with a very of transverse spikes and has armour on its thorax, upper shoulders throat and lower front, with equivalents of greaves and bracers on its six limbs, all of it highly decorated. It holds swords in two of its limbs, stands on two and grasps the shaft of long jagged polearm with the remaining two, staring at the viewer with large, pale, featureless eyes.
