**Grin unveils groundbreaking geared hub motor with regen braking**
"…its braking benefit is often more important than its efficiency gains."
**"**Grin Technologies, a Vancouver-based electric bicycle parts manufacturer, teamed up with MAC to improve the motor. The result is the GMAC, which offers a new clutchless design and thus enables regen braking, even with a smaller, lightweight geared hub motor."

@severud I feel like with the Pinion gearbox and now this, we'll see a lot of affordable e-bikes with little to no shifting or chain maintenance. Now if they can just fix those nails in the streets and texting drivers...
@unabogie The new Pinion mid-mount motor paired with a hub motor for automated braking would be awesome.

@severud my current favorite e-bike (I have two, don't judge) is my Kona Ecoco. Mainly because it feels like a bike and has an insane range and is only 45 lbs. So I can carry it up stairs or take it out with little planning. It's just "toss on a helmet and go"
If I could have that with a belt drive it'd be the perfect bike.
@unabogie I'm thinking N+1 applies to e-bikes as well.
@severud now that you mention it, a cargo bike could be handy...
