@jon So why are you still using it?

@lxsameer

I am not very active there, but it is the only place to keep abreast on certain things in my local community and the like.

I also want to understand the world and how hate and misinformation spreads and Facebook is great for that.

@jon @lxsameer yep. Facebook and X are the best platforms for tracking misinformation, hate and all the worst in social media.

@jon What’s the point of “friending”, “following”or “liking” anything on Facebook when it all gets buried under the unwanted crap that they keep pushing?

@djzap With deliberate filtering of certain words... yes, that's how it goes, they organize conversations about the various themes according to their own mind. We know who's.

@jon

Delete Facebook.

Its the only thing they understand.

@jon
>impressive that they believe they can make it

They can. That one can be certain of. It's not a playing field, it's an abyss.

@jon Fact : Facebook is the best place to find misinformation

@jon, I never used Fakebook and I never would. Ten years ago I had an Twitter account, at this time stil usable, but now it is not longer an option for me, Both are only readable with VPN, facemasks, rubber gloves and disinfectant spray.

@jon I'll take user generated misinformation over whatever Facebook thought was true. :mastoread:

@jon Be merciless with "friends" on FakeBook. Begin by extracting the algorithm by viewing posts chronologically. (Do a web search if needed. But I think facebook.com/?sk=h_chr should be it.) Unfollow/Unfriend them when you see any "friends" consistently spreading disinformation.

FacebookFacebook - log in or sign upLog into Facebook to start sharing and connecting with your friends, family, and people you know.

@adirtyhippie

I know there are hacks like this, but I am also interested in seeing what I see when I do not do that. I want to see what a normal users sees and what I see then is not nice.

@jon I guess I don't have the time to be a masochist. ;)

@jon I dropped Facebook when the Linux groups , very specific, two groups for free educational software where taken over by porn. They do just the same on Instagram. Porn will always pay for content, "Onlyfans" is not enough. I was supposed to moderate and promite, banning, blocking was ignored, they had paid for the adverts. Well, not much, because the dominant racket came from India. Some groups were Norwegian and people here that I met socially made their comments, they knew that I managed the groups, ad at a concert it is not funny to be reminded.
