So we are going back to the good old dirty air days. I remember those days well. Not good. 😞

Trump takes an ax to more than a dozen pollution rules in rapid-fire deregulation

The Trump administration announced its intent to roll back major climate policies Wednesday, including rules that target pollution from vehicles and power plants, in a major blow to America’s progress on clean air, clean water and climate action.

The changes are expected to inject even more uncertainty into key industries, including manufacturing, which President Donald Trump has pledged to support.

The Environmental Protection Agency announced it will undo rules that would have pushed power plants and carmakers toward cleaner forms of energy. It also intends to roll back rules on soot, mercury and coal ash pollution, as well as the so-called “good neighbor rule” that regulates downwind air pollution, and eliminate its programs overseeing environmental justice and diversity. #EPA #airpollution #dirtyair #climatedisaster

It’s all the more odd considering #RIBA has been vocal in recent years in its commitment to addressing #ClimateChange and promoting low-carbon, sustainable design.

The RIBA 2030 Climate Challenge explicitly acknowledges the urgent need for reducing carbon emissions and improving air quality through sustainable building practices.

Furthermore, RIBA’s Climate Change Action Plan calls on #architects to prioritise clean energy sources that do not contribute to harmful #AirPollution.

It’s sad to see that #RIBA have decided to give a project multiple awards despite the fact it includes not one, but two polluting wood burning stoves.

Confusingly they boast:

‘A single air-source heat pump also provides all the house requires for heating and washing, with bills a fraction of typical running costs.’
