Mesoamerica<p>Plazuelas is a Classic period archaeological site in the northern fringe of Mesoamerica, in the Mexican state of Guanajuato. After suffering decades of severe drought and fire, the city was abandoned early in the PostClassic period, Now, a team of researchers from the National Autonomous University of Mexico have investigated the burned remains of structures to determine the approximate date of the city's destruction and subsequent abandonedment, Using archaeomagnetic dating techniques, they have determined that the city-wide fire occurred some time between 883 AD and 940 AD. This destruction was the result of internal or external warfare, and the city was abandoned completely by 1000 AD. <br /><a href="https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1871101424000189" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">sciencedirect.com/science/arti</span><span class="invisible">cle/abs/pii/S1871101424000189</span></a><br /><a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/Mesoamerica" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Mesoamerica</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/Plazuelas" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Plazuelas</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/Classic" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Classic</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/Postclasic" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Postclasic</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/UNAM" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>UNAM</span></a> <br /><a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/Guanajuato" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Guanajuato</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/M%C3%A9xico" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>México</span></a></p>
