𝘌𝘵𝘵𝘢 𝘉
📘’My Friends’ by Hisham Matar
- - - - - - - - - - -
Khaled, Mustafa, and Hosam meet, part ways, and drift through their memories as Libya undergoes decades of turmoil, from the 1984 murder of Yvonne Fletcher to the Arab Spring and civil war.
London itself feels like a character in this novel, a place that anchors Khaled as he builds a life far from his family and friends in Libya.
I was also deeply drawn to Khaled’s honesty in facing his own vulnerabilities.
Now that I have finished the book, I feel like I’m missing my dear friend. He is such a compelling character that I wish I could keep following his entire life story.◼️
