FLORA FRIDAY -- Breadfruit is one of my favorite trees. They are so majestic with their large leaves. New research has identified which cultivars were introduced from Oceania to the Caribbean in the 18th century. The trees, now ubiquitous in the region, were introduced because the fruit was seen as a cheap food source for slaves on British run plantations. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0960982222019017
We purchased the breadfruit print, which hangs on our living room wall, from the artist when we lived on Guam.
